Working out

Have you ever flipped through the channels and seen how many workout routines, DVD’s, and new equipment there are to strengthen your body? It’s pretty crazy how many programs, and gimmicks are available, and how many people sign up to change their outward appearance. You know there is a workout routine that is spiritual as well. In Philippians 2:12, Paul tells the church in Philippi “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”.
Now, I know we started off by talking about working out the physical body, but here Paul tells us to “work out your own salvation”. Interesting parallel, so what does it mean to work out your salvation? Let’s start off first by saying that it doesn't mean you can work for, or earn salvation. This is a free gift, imparted to us by God’s grace and our acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Working out your salvation is the constant seeking of God’s will in your life. Once you receive that gift of salvation we are not to sit and rot. We need to be active “working out” our faith, our walk, and our salvation.

Now here is the great part; the workout plan is already set up for us, we see this in Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” God has the workout plan for each and every one of us. Seek His will, and let Him work in you so you can work out that which is prepared for you.

Blessings.
